Have you ever dreamed of going into space or working in the space industry? Have you ever wondered how it would feel to be weightless, well now is your chance!

For Space Week, the Insight Centre for Data Analytics, the Irish Underwater Council (IUC) and Science Foundation Ireland are excited to announce Diving into Space, a unique event combining space, weightlessness and diving into a truly memorable experience.

The event will kick off with a chance to hear from Ireland’s only Aquanaut Dr. Marc O’ Griofa who recently took part in NASA’s Extreme Environment Mission Operations programme (NEEMO) to the bottom of the sea, where the crew evaluated tools and techniques being tested for future deep space exploration. Marc will take his audience on a whirlwind adventure through the science of weightlessness and how SCUBA diving is used to train astronauts. Following that you will get a chance to meet some of the top people involved in SCUBA diving in Ireland. After the presentation, Ireland’s top SCUBA instructors will be on hand to bring you through the experience of weightlessness in the safety of Leisure World’s pool.

This event will take place in Leisure World, Bishopstown on Saturday Oct 7th, from 1:30pm – 5pm.

Don’t miss this spectacular chance to dip your toes into the deep world of space.

Please note the scuba diving element is available for over 14’s only. Snorkelling is available for all age groups on the day.

Please bring swimwear, a towel and shorts – and do note that this event will be photographed and videoed.
