Why get involved in Space Week?

Hosting a Space Week event puts your organisation in the spotlight of the national space community as well as the general public. It is a great way to boost local space activities and raise public awareness, especially with public lectures.

Active involvement in the organising of key space sector events sends a strong message that you are committed to playing a role in the international space community.

How to get involved:

  • Organise and support public events to raise space awareness.

Investing in public awareness programs should not be underestimated. It can have a major impact on STEM education, but increasingly it also trains young people across all disciplines how to solve complex problems. You’ll be inspiring the younger generation and your future workforce by promoting activities that are going on in your locality during Space Week. Simply put up some posters at work, add it to your newsletter or make a link to the Space Week website on your social media channels! It’s easy and it’s free, but it could change the way young people in your area think about how space can inspire their future careers.

  • Contact your local school to organise a visit.

There is a close relationship between space activity and education. The highly diverse nature of the space sector requires a community of experts, which in turn, drives the need for education. By visiting a local school and giving them a talk or a demonstration, your company can act as a role model. If you’re unsure how to link what your company does to the space sector just ask us and we’ll help!

  • Host an open day/evening or a lecture.

There are plenty of space-enthusiasts, young and old, who are curious about the current progress in the space sector. Lectures with Q&A sessions open to the public are a great way to engage with the local community. Encourage a space enthusiast, or a local astronomy club to give their talk in your company’s premises.

Don’t forget to register your event on to be included with the other events around Ireland during Space Week! Registration is simple and will help to promote your event.
