Time:10:30 - 14:30
The event will be held in two hour sessions starting from 10:30

Location:Armagh Observatory and Planetarium, Armagh

Armagh Observatory & Planetarium is delighted to announce that it will be hosting two days of themed science & art workshops on 02 & 03 October 2017 for primary and post-primary schools. The SunSpaceArt project brings scientists and artists together to work with schools, to explore the science of the Sun, solar system and space travel in a creative way. The children will be encouraged to produce imaginative art work, with a narrative, to express their view of ‘Our place in the Universe’. The workshops will be led by Dr Helen Mason, University of Cambridge and Geraldine Cox, Imperial College London.

Each workshop session will include a 1 hour session with Helen Mason, a 30 minute theatre show and another 30 minute activity with our enthusiastic staff.

The workshops are suitable for upper primary and lower secondary school students. This project is funded by Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC). As a result of this funding, AOP is able to cover reasonable costs associated with travel for your school to attend this unique event.

The SunSpaceArt project is the first of two public engagement hosted by AOP with the second event scheduled for November, targeting older post-primary pupils considering further study or careers within the burgeoning science sector.
